I have laid laminate flooring with an expansion gap around the outside. As I ran out of plastic gap holders, I have to guestimate the space, and unfortunately in several place the gap is actually between 2 and 2.5cm (i know, I'm not a natural DIYer...!).

All the scotia trim I can find is just under 2cm deep, which is not going to work. Is there any deeper trim I can use to cover the expansion gap?! Could I use something like this:

If it is a colour match to the laminate you have put down it will do the job nicely, by the look of it the trim is 35-40mm wide which should cover your expansion gap easily.....either pin it to the laminate or use a quick drying mitre glue (like super glue)

What you have to ensure is that the flooring can move freely under the cover strip. people often glue the coverstips to the floor and when the floor expands or contracts the strips either pop off or restrict movement and buckle the flooring.
I found these on the web. Stick them to the wall to allow the floor to move underneath http://www.joinerystore.com/store.asp/d=46/c=85/Scotia-TradePacks

Those pergo trims are not going to work, they are not 40mm wide like stated above.
Rip it up, buy another pack of laminate and do it properly. its just one cut on each row of boards. it would take you 2 hours, and look alot better!
