timber frame bungalow built in 80's. I'm assuming these are expansion gaps, there's one on each side of property. three sides had been covered by some sort of filler/sealant that was cracking and peeling off, looked rubbish:
so i chipped the cracking filler off the three sides, left the original gap filler intact and applied geocel 201 on the surface. i also wanted to cover the exposed metal running down each side that i'm assuming forms part of the gap construction. yes i know the tooled surface ain't great but given it's on a harled wall i'm happy enough:
I have one left to do, this is its current state:
am I doing any harm to the purpose/function of the expansion gap by filling them in this way? yes I should have asked PRIOR to doing the first three!
