expansion vessel valve adaptor

I've just had mi boiler serviced and the plumber removed the schrader valve from the expansion vessel and couldn't get a new one back in. He's getting what he describes as an adaptor that will allow him to fit a new valve.
I've never heard of this before, is this a known issue?
The boiler is a worcester greenstar gas combi.

Maybe the plan is to fit a schrader valve extension if valve is bust as a way to fix?

There are two types of Schrader inserts, long and short. Perhaps he didn't have the right ones with him.
