Hi everyone,

I have a 2 yr old combi boiler (ikon-t apparently made by glowworm) - when the heating comes on the pressure immediately rises to 4bar. When off, the boiler loses pressure quickly and needs repressurizing twice a day.

I've been told the problem is the expansion vessel - but that on this model the boiler will have to come off the wall so it will cost well over £300 to fix.

I'm wondering if there are any other things it could be - and if the quote sounds about right. I am just hoping it could be something cheaper!

Fit an external expansion vessel, anywhere on the system will do, and you don't need a corgi to do it. You can buy vessels from plumbers merchants, all shapes and sizes, and it can never be too big.

thanks - any idea roughly how big it will be - I'm not sure there's room anywhere sensible!

A 12" cube should do (unless it's a pancake type.)
