Extension with double skin wall, concrete blockwork on outer skin.
Side wall of extension couldn't be rendered completely due to restricted access
The neighbours have a single extension...and between the walls is an 12" - 18" gap , if that.

How can i protect the concrete blocks ?

Someone said Ronseal waterproofer.

Is there a roll on or spray on material that would create a membrane or does this affect the wall breathing ?

Dont want problems in future

Is a bit late now but the approach here is to use face brick and joint as you go. I'm surprised BC didn't pull you on this

Obviously aware of that now
Please can any replies be helpful as regards a solution as opposed to what should have happened

What makes you think this wall will be any more vulnerable than any of your other outside walls? My guess is it will be more sheltered.

This is the answer. A cavity wall can have unrendered concrete blocks on the outer skin.. Unless they are designed as face blocks they won't look as good, but where you can't see them won't matter.
The main issue with builds like this is the debris like leaves that build up in the gap.

Just make sure the guttering is sound, if no water is running down the wall from the roof then it'll be ok.
