Hi all,

I've taken a couple of wall lights down, and now I've got two exposed wires. Please excuse my ignorance, but is it safe to just plaster over these wires? Or should I be doing something to make them safe before I cover them up? At the moment I have two unsightly wires poking out of the wall, which are likely to get me a smack when my wife gets home :)

Any help is much appreciated,

Dan

no you can not just plaster over them

you should dissconect them from where ever they are fed from.

platering over them while still connected is dangerous.

today you know they are there, next month you will have forgotten (trust me)

I was hoping someone wouldn't say that. From the faint line on the wall, it looks like they run all the way to the ceiling. I'm worried that if I start pulling the cable, I could end up in one of those DIY disaster scenarios. I think I'd better just put some new lights up.

I never said you had to remove the cable, i only said you shoud dissconnect it from its supply.

Is there a way to do this without making a mess then? As I didn't do the innitial wiring, I've no idea where the wires connect.

if you have no idea where the wires are connected, it would be easier to add new lights then

The chances are they will go to a joint box above.

Is there a seperate switch for these wires?
