Exposed Wiring Through Plasterboard

We have had an electric towel rail installed, and our electrician has left this hole in the wall for us to patch up. The wires seen in the hole are connected to a newly installed fused spur which has been connected via an existing socket at the other side of the plasterboard.

I'm concerned at seeing the exposed wire here. Is this safe to patch and plaster over? This is in our bathroom, so currently very worried about showering etc.

I am not an electrician...

The wires seem to go upwards. I don't see how you showering is going to be an issue.

The visible bit of copper is the earth cable. In and of itself, touching it should not be dangerous.

I don't understand why you have posted an image of the socket that he spurred from, rather than the spur itself.

Again, I am not an electrician...

The grey outer, ought to be continuous and be covering those cores, all the way into the box. It is very shoddy workmanship - are you sure he was qualified?

The outer grey sheath should have been terminated in the fused spur unit.
Can show us a picture of the FCU he has allegedly spurred through from the double socket? It should be visible somewhere in case you need to isolate the towel rail or change the fuse in it, for whatever reason. If you can't find one, then he hasn't fed it through one, which means he has come direct off the socket.

Thanks for the advice folks, electrician came back round and all is sorted

All sorted as in, he filled the hole, or terminated the cables correctly?
And is it definitely through a fused spur?

Terminated the cables correctly. The cables that were exposed were at the end where it connected to the ring circuit near the double socket. They had slipped down when sealing the socket back in. Only thing seen through the hole now is the grey sheath going right up into the box. Yes, it is definitely through fused spur. Apologies for missing the picture of the fused spur to begin with folks. I appreciate the feedback.
