Hi I am in the process of buying a house that already has an extension which is roughly 3500 deep x 2700 wide.

I understand it is now possible to have an extension upto 6000 deep is that correct (for a semi)

I'd like to make the extension bigger but not sure at all on cost! I've done some reading and found info suggesting £800 - 1000 per share meter. Does this sound about right? And would I just be able to have an extra bit put on the existing extension, or is it going to have to be done from scratch?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire if locality affects things!

Thanks

Under the Neighbour Consultation Scheme you can extend up to 6m (that's 6m including your existing extension) provided no one objects, have a read here: http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/commonprojects/extensions/#ncs If someone objects and their objection is deemed reasonable then your LA will ask you to submit a planning application.

Costs, you are prolly on the light side so assume £1000/m at least.

Generally you can add on to existing extensions though hard to say for certain as lack of info.
