Hey guys,

Theres only one place I can fit the panel heater, but the cable is probably 300mm too short. Whats the right way to extend it?

The best method would be to replace the existing flex for a longer one. The flex will require to be heat resistant. This would mean the casing will need removing to gain access to the terminals.
It would be wise to check the terminals first before proceeding, to make sure they can easily be disconnected. Failing that you would have to extend the cable be means of an inline joint connector, something like this would do, http://www.screwfix.com/p/teetube-ip68-3-pole-in-line-cable-joint/92911

I did have a look last night to see how easy it would be to access the terminals. Looks a bit faffy taking the casing apart.

If I go down extending the flex how do I chose the correct rating for it?

I would use a kettle type plug and socket or other in-line connector

as long as it clamps cable and with take 1mm² wire and protects against damage then OK. Just some common sense. Be it white, black or orange the main thing is to fit in where you have the heater.

If a connector will look unsightly then renewing cable is best option but some units are not designed for maintenance and much depends on how easy it is to access where the cable is terminated.

So if I grab some 0.75 3 core upvc flex and one of those connectors it should be mustard? The connectors going to be hidden behind furniture anyways.
