Extending hot water circulating system

Probably would have had a NRV after the pump too!

To keep costs to a minimum there should be two pipe stats.

First energises the circulator ONLY when cyl temp is above say 50 C.

Second only energises the circulator when the loop return is below say 45C.

That ensures the circulator is only energised when its actually needed.

on unvented cylinders it should pump towards the cylinder on the return and vented cylinder should be facing away from the cylinder but still on the return.

Is this a typo error Picasso?.................secondary pump whether installed on vented or unvented will always return water back into cylinder/calorifier.

grundfos in their infinite wisdom have now decided to put the bronze pump facing away from the cylinder on vented systems, have a look at their ecademy, not quite sure of the theory behind it but if thats what they recommend who am I to argue.

Installed a bronze pump last week , had a look through the installation instructions today and nothing has changed ...............if pump is positioned to circulate water away from cylinder then cooler water from secondary connection would exit @ draw off points , also how would you configure NRV?..............gotta be some sort of confusion somewhere.

I don't follow. Can you write some more about that? What is the secondary connection? How can water get from there to taps, and why should that water be cooler?

as said have a look at the grundfos ecademy, was the pump you installed on a vented system ?
