Hi

I have an inglenook where the hearth is about 100mm high made from very rough blockwork. I want to put a woodburner in there and Ive measured the depth of inglenook and the woodburner and I have to increase the depth of the hearth by 150mm so that it complies with having the 300mm of hearth in front of the woodburner.

Does the new 150mm of hearth need to be same height as the existing hearth?

Can I lay any non-combustible material such as http://www.bertiesdirect.co.uk/genw...MIoeDctJC82gIVDFXTCh1vjAaqEAkYCSABEgI2A_D_BwE

Thanks

Thickness of the hearth will be determined by the appliance manufacture's guidelines. If the heat at the base is relatively low, then yes you can potentially have a piece of slate, otherwise not.

The woodburner is on its own log store, so its probably ok. (But Ill check manufacturer guidelines)

Whats under the area you want to extend over?

At the moment its floor screed, but Im planning on having (engineered) wood.

Off the top of my head, I think it's 250mm needed in front of the stove, provided the stove isn't designed to be run with the door open.
