Hi,

I'm looking for a little advice. We are in the process of getting our old conseravtory revamped by a local glazing company. The only thing they will not do is add in a few more power sockets for me, but they have inisted that I should be able to do it myself.

Currently there is one double socket in the conservatory which is a spur coming from the Kitchen circuit. It then has another spur going to a light fitting and then another spur from that light fitting to another light fitting.

From what I understand having a dasiychain like this is a wrong without sperating it with a FCU. Therefore what I am planning on doing is adding a 13amp FCU (with RCD) before the first double socket and then in the dasiy chain adding another double socket.

So my question is: as I will be improving the current system, am I OK performing the work as a non-certified DIYer? I know I can replace like for like and improve areas (e.g. replacing standard socket with RCD socket) but I am unclear as to if I could add another socket to a dasiychain if I add in an FCU.

Thanks for any advice.

Gary
