Extending the extension

I bought an end of terrace house, which has a weird extension. Both, ground and first floors have been extended, but the ground floor extension is smaller than the first floor and the first floor overhangs over the back of the house. See attached pictures.

Can I just build a wall around the empty area under the overhanging, and place a door to make a shed. Will I need a planning permission ?

Strictly-speaking it would need planning permission, but why bother? Save your £172.
