Extension info needed

Hi there, new to the site so hope this is the right section.
Me and my partner are currently looking to buy a house, we have seen one but was wondering about building an extension and was after some advise.

Attached is a picture of the house, what we were thinking and I'm asking is it possible and what sort of cost is:

1. Build a 2nd storey extension above the garage.
2. Extend the porch area between garage and house and move stairs to there.
3. Remove stairs from current living room

Problems I see is that the garage outer wall is single skin with hardly any foundations and also is the wall to the neighbours garage. We would like to keep the garage for a car but not sure if there will be enough room for the front door as well.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You need to find out from your local planning authority if they allow building up to the boundary at first floor level.

The other things are just technical, and the price will vary based on the solution - and it could vary by thousands of pounds, to make it meaningless to mention a figure
