Extension & Redesign

Hello,

We need help!

My hubbie & I moved into a 70's semi a month ago & we have so much we want to do but don't know where to start!

We have an existing single story extension & want to make it 2 story to add an additional bedroom. We want to add a porch, replace bannisters, floors, doors (internal & external), create a new bathroom from scratch as well as transform existing bathroom into ensuite to the new bedroom. We also need a new kitchen, floors throughout, want to move radiators etc... the list is never ending!


Basically we have no idea where to start or what trades we need - should we employ a designer/project manager/architect who would organise everything & coorsinate trades? Does such a thing exist?! If it does, is it hideously expensive!

Start with an architect, if you are building a 2 story extension you will probably need plans & planning permission. He will give you an estimate & is probably the best person to advise you on all of your questions regarding this matter.
Do not rely on a builder to do everything.
