exterior hrdwood door

Will be replacing the front door soon and I have bought a hardwood door.

I dont really want to paint it but need to protect it and keep the colour as light as possible as I dont want it to darken the area.

what is recommended?

I have a porch as well so door not subject to adverse weather

If you go down a varnish route make sure its an exterior uv resisting type. Otherwise it will quickly get degraded and let moisture in.

I've recently recoated several hardwood exterior doors which I originally coated with blackfriars clear gloss varnish 6 yrs previous. They will go a deeper colour but not unnatractive. They were protected under a porch and still looked like glass. tried to get away with not doing em but they just wouldnt go away for a day
