Exterior paint flaking

Im about to repaint some walls outside but some of the old paint is flaking so what is the best way yo do this so i can get the best finish, i dont want to be able to see where the old paint has flaked off when i repaint.

I can't see 2 photo's only 1 of birdshit on a wall :?
