Hi All
Ive got to paint new render on an extension and existing painted render, my questions are:-

1. Is it suitable to use water based this time of year?
2. Do i need to use a stablising primer first?
3. What brand would you recomend?
4. Old render looks dirty/ green should i use a fungacidal wash first?

Any other advice/ tips would be appreciated

Hi,
(1) Maybe, on a dry, warm(ish) day
(2) No
(3)Dulux weathershield or Dulux all seasons(From a trade outlet, better quality)
(4)No, Unless its furry or wet
:)

Thx for reply,
isnt dulux weathershield a waterbased?

Can i get various colours in the Dulux or will i have to have something like Santex?
Is pliolite better for outsides?

Sorry for so many questions, just like to gather all information before i start

Yes, Weathershield is water-based, its pretty durable stuff...Personally I dont apply it after the end of Sept /mid October - weather permitting.
Theres a good colour range to be found in Dulux.
If you can afford it resin-based(Pliolite) is longer-lasting & 'dries' better in iffy weather

'tis true, and cheaper! I use Gliddens, its sold side by side with Dulux in my local Dulux centre & Brewers :)

1) Yes as long as its dry, and looks like staying so for a good few hours.
2)No
3)Crown
4)would not harm to do so on any green render.
