Exterior rendering on retaining wall. How to do it. Mixing etc etc. Help

Hi everyone

Got render a 1m height retaining wall for my patio.

Can anyone advise on how many layers if one or 2 scratches and final one or 1 scratch and 1 final.

Also someone use Shap sand for scratch and plastering sand for final.

What's your experience and what your ideally mix.

Also if any waterproofing or plasticiser need to be used.

Hallow block. Just retaining a filled out of compacted rubble to make a risef patio. No soil or water should be inside. It should be pretty dry as there concrete slab and patio slab as finish on top. Ideally a stong normal render would be fine

Smooth finish with sponge

5:1 s/c and 1/2 lime. scratch . with plasticiser.
6:1 s/c and 1/2 lime top coat with plasticiser.
White cement is a nicer finish and nicer to float and sponge.

No waterproof or sbr?
Any sharp sand for the scratch coat?

you could use waterproofer instead of plasticiser , but not much point in a garden wall.
no sbr.
plastering sand.

Make sense but will use same mix to render brickwork from my conservatory to make same matching render as these walls are next each other.
