I bought some Dulux Weathershield Exterior Satin brilliant white paint and then the Ronseal equivalent. Both are totally crap!

I'm trying to paint an exterior door (which is like a smooth internal door), flat on benches in the shade in my garage. Both paints say the drying time is 1 hour. 1 hour!!!!!! More like 30 seconds. I do about 3 strokes and the first stroke starts to drag. There is absolutely no way to get an even brush stroke. The paint is too thick to put on thinly and that doesn't help as it's dry before I finish the stroke! The paint doesn't give you a chance! I've had to sand down the door twice now! I could water down the paint, but why should I have to modify a paint that has cost me £15 a tin.

Am I doing something wrong or is this paint just totally useless?

Paints always come too thick - so you can thin it to suit your taste. Bit like orange squash.
