Painting tile exterior windowsill

Hi,

I want to paint an exterior tile windowsill with black paint and bought Ronseal Doorstep paint Black Satin Doorstep paint but some of it is beginning to come off (where water is dripping from sill above it).

I looked at tile paints but that was all for interior tiles and not suitable.

What is the best paint to paint these exterior tiles with? An black exterior gloss with suitable undercoat?

Was the doorstep paint you used oil-based or water-based?

I would say water-based paint is prone to come off where water is dropping onto it a lot.

I'd go with oil based grey under coat and black oil based gloss.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I just realised there are two version,,, interior and exterior of this paint. Guess which one I bought

I'll try again with the exterior version.
