1920 terrace where the rear extension has a external Chimney stack. Both fireplaces have been filled in and there is a vent in it's place downstairs in the kitchen.

We recently had our back room above the kitchen plastered and we asked our plasterer to fill in a vent in the chimney stack.

One week after the room was finished a damp stain appeared in the spot where the vent was. There is also some very old damage to the plaster in the kitchen where the fireplace was.

I now know filling in the vent was not a good idea. i'm not too keen on reinstating the vent on the inside wall so the question is.. could I put a vent \ airbrick on the outside of the chimney stack?
