External insulation

Hi guys, I'm a heating engineer but need some advice on this please!!!
I have a old stone house which I'm thinking of putting external wall insulation ( 100mm thick then rendered ).
My question is, because the stone makes the house really aesthetically pleasing on the eye I want to keep it that way and just do the external cladding in certain parts. By doing this will it cause cold spots on the un insulated walls and cause damp?
Any advice would be great as I know nothing about this. Cheers

External wall insulation is probably not the best idea, as you'll gain little in heat loss and will have to adapt areas such as fascias, verge boards window reveals etc. for by the obvious spoiling of the buildings look.
