External silicone tips

Hello!

I've removed all the old white silicone from around my window that's in a brick recess. Thankfully all sides peeled off leaving no trace!

My question is.....I'm going to tape on the upvc to have a nice straight edge.....but do the pro's tape the brick as well, personally I can't see the tape sticking to my brick as the surface is quite rough. I'll like it to look neat, is a silicone smoothing profile tool best to use or just a wet finger?

A profile tool won't normally work on bricks, Time to whittle a stick.

It's better to use a foam cored uPVC quadrant trim and stick it on with silicone sealant. You see the quadrant which gives a nice finish and the silicone behind it seals the gaps.
