I need to paint the outside of our house. The problem is that we have a ground floor extension that wraps around the back and side of the house, similar to this house (not mine!)

How can I get access to the first floor external wall?

Forgot to mention - just be careful!

H&S would 'suggest' that a professional tradesman use scaffolding but, for a job like that in the picture, the cost and effort to erect it would be a waste of time and money. One problem you may have, is that the wall above the roof may be taller than that of the image. If so, and you can't reach the area with an extension pole, to be guaranteed safety, you may have to consider scaffolding, because over-stretching or climbing on something would be unwise.;)
When walking on concrete roof tiles, try to keep your weight on the parts where they overlap each other, as this is where they are strongest and less likely to crack.
