The existing cement based render is beginning to crack and fall off so I'm looking to replaster it with a harder wearing silicone/acrylic based render.

The oven looks like an igloo that has been raised off the ground so the rainwater runs all over it and and it'll constantly exposed to the elements so the tougher the better.

Any recommendations gratefully received.

K-rend or an equivalent "just add water" render may do the job. This stuff is waterproof and comes in about 6 different colours. Plastic re-enforcing matting can be bought to bed into the base coat.....use chicken wire instead.

Try to give yourself a fire-stop barrier around the chimney area. Use a strip of fire-blanket so the render doesn't touch any vent that isn't insulated. A bead of fire-proof silicone can seal this area.

K-rend can be bought from many builders merchants....but they usually have to order it in. Many will do this......others can't be bothered. "Sheffield Insulation" always stock it and sell to Joe public. Google them to find your local branch. They are nationwide but often come under other names.
