Is it the plumber or the electrician that would normally install extract fans, does the plumber install the fan unit/ducting and the electrician wire it up, or does the electrician normally fit the unit aswell?

:)

Depends on application and qualifications, though an electrician would be a good call.

as a plumber i always try my best to get someone else to core the hole in the wall for my boiler flue, if we are working on a contract it will always make sense for a labourer to go ahead and core the hole for the flue and extractor as his hourly rate is less than either plumber or electrician, but if it is a one off job i will do my own as it isn't cost effective for a labourer to drive for miles to do it

So, lets say the labourer has core drilled the opening for an extract fan from a bathroom, is it normally the plumber or the electrician that would normally install the unit??

:P

As a gas man, then I make sure that the extractor is not sited too close to a flue or that it won't affect an open flued appliance... Then I go to my van and don my donkey jacket and get my core borer and cut the core... back to the van, get my 17th edition, paperwork and electricians "Bullet proof" tool vest and fit the extractor... tools back to the van and on with the donkey jacket again and fetch the vacuum cleaner to clean up all the dust.. then I go and get my apprentice cap and make a cup of tea... then chuck all the stuff in to the van and Eurotrucker drives it all the way home..

I'm a Swiss Army Grouch
