it seems that someone could put their fingers in the hole that goes to the vent, is this ok ?

Somebody didn't read the instructions when they fitted that. A duct should be fitted onto the spigot and it should be extended outside of the cabinet.

Air collected above a hob should not be blown into a cupboard. One, because it will get very hot in there, and two, extraction will be severely restricted as the air won't be able to escape from an enclosed cupboard.

The above measure will also prevent anyone putting their fingers inside.

thanks, it occurs to me that tenants may put something on top of the cupboard and it could go into the fan if I do this.

is there anything i can do to prevent that ?

thankyou
