I have an extractor fan in the bathroom which should come into operation when the pull cord on the light switch is pulled - it doesn't - any ideas please.

What cable have you installed to your fan? you need 3 cores + earth. Ususally from the ceiling rose: red/brown - permanent live, yellow switched live, black/blue -neutral. If you haven't got the 2 live connections it wont work.
Has this ever worked ? or is it new ?
It did work for a few years after being installed - but stopped for no apparent reason.
There is one switch which operates the light and extractor fan together - the light works but the fan doesn't. Could it still be the fuse - if so have you any idea where the fuse is located?
If it's a low voltage fan then it may have a transformer somewhere, maybe in a loft space? there maybe a separate fuse, my bathroom shower fan has it's own fused spur.
You really need to check that the fan is receiving a live supply when the switch is on, if you are not confident to do this then get a qualified spark in.
Checking the fan is free to move by hand along with all the other suggestions will also help identify the problem.
