What you are suggesting is ok.
I am not sure what the deal is with Part P in Durham? (mainly because I have no idea where it is?).
The ELV fans run off a transformer that you would wire in between the 3 pole isolator and the fan.

What zone is the fan in?
It is normal to do as you say with the isolator above the door.

Durham is somewhere near Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Sunderland (awaits the flak  )

zone 1 and its ipx4 is that allowed or would it need to be selv?

switch above door is on inside of room outside zones is this ok?

It generally needs to be SELV if it is going in zone 1. What does the manufacturers instructions say for the fan?

The switch is OK on the inside, is normal to put them on the outside too.

got a little confused, the guide to building regs said that240v extractor was allowed in zone 1 if ipx4?

instructions say needs fcu at 3amp, where would this go into the circuit?

It is possible that a 240v fan is allowed in zone 1, but the manufacturer has to specifically say that it is suitable.

If you are using a timed fan your fuse will end up running the lights too as it needs to go upstream of the switch so both the permanent live and switch live are supplied via the fuse.

so for timed fan

fcu.....light.....triple pole switch......fan

switch

Yep, or get a dual back box for above the door and put the fan isolator and fsu in there together, you can use the fan isolator to connect the switch and light to (bit like a JB).
