I'm replacing 3 bathroom extractors. I naively thought they'd be like-for-like and the wiring would be the same. The new units are all timed.

I managed to fit the first one fine. Second one, fine. Turns out the third wasn't previously timed. I thought they all were (my oversight), so I bought timed replacements.

What threw me is that they all have isolators which do control them in conjunction with the lights. However in the ceiling for the 3rd extractor there are only two lines, L & N.

So my question is, where is the LS going from the isolator if not into the ceiling extractor?! Will I have access to it if I take the light off? Ideally I would like to make use of the timed feature and not have to send this back and get a non-timed version.

Thanks all.

You can link the L and Ls in a timed fan to use it as a non timed fan.

If so try and follow the cable to see where it changes.
I assume the 3rd wire isn't just cut short?

Check the rose, the switched live will also serve the fan via the isolator which acts as an intermediate switch, so no need for a third core

For anyone interested I took the isolator switch off and found that the switched live wasn't actually wired in, so I made it the same as the switch in the "working" bathroom, as well as the wiring going through the lights, and all seems good now.

Many thanks to those who took the time to reply and push me in the right direction
