we placed cooker into old fire place.

thinking about venting up thru chimney as opposed to into the drive our neighbours walk up to get into their house.

tube going up to a "spinning" cowl?

or is just gonna be more sensible to make a hole thru back of chimney towards our neighbours drive? we have a meter wide path as well - but we never use it.

The hood will be above your head height (so you don't bang into it when stirring your porage) and the vent will come out of the top of it before turning into the wall. So it will be well above people outside. Depending on winds, the warm air will tend to rise away. I'd put it through the wall.

Cooker hoods tend to extract steam as well as fumes, so you would get condensation and grease in your chimney liner.

Chimney not really suitable due to length which will collect lots or grease and condensation . Thru wall best option.
