I had a company install gutters and the work is as shoddy as anything. Its unbelievable to be honest, panel pins hanging out, brackets spaced at irregular intervals, sealant everywhere.... the list goes on. The job was complete in a matter of hours. I have witheld payment and intend on getting another company to complete the work. Im in two minds whether to just pay someone else to do the job properly or pay a surveyor £500 to inspect the work and take this cowboy to court and get him to pay for the extra costs that Im going to incur, as I believe he is liable.

Id hate anyone else to be fooled by this company as I was.

Go for it ...(to court) these clowns deserve punishment...There are enough of them too. The Very best of Luck to you

You have to give the contractor the opportunity to correct the work before you do anything else

And then you have to mitigate costs - you can't just expect to be able to reclaim unnecessary costs

He had that chance, he came back and stuck more sealant to cover up the bodges. Trading Standards actually said he would be liable for the cost to put it right.
