I recently bought the stainless version of these from Ebay at about £30.

Its a bit think and light but easy to carry I suppose.

When I tried it after putting it together I found the nuts on the end of the shaft were not aligned with the axis.

It is so bad that when turning the fingers can miss the flicker bar by 6mm when set to just touch 180 degrees away.

I cannot see any complaints about this problem or for that matter any web site for them.

Does anyone know about this problem or am I just unlucky as usual?

I think you've bought a dud Tony. I'd return it if you can. The flickers (fingers), and flicker bar are the most important things on a tyrolean machine really, and if they don't/wont line up, then the machine is useless.Could you not contact the manufacturer, "Faithful", and tell them about the problem. That''s what i'd do. "Faithful" is quite a well known brand/company, and i'm sure you'll get a quicker response too. Let's know how you get on though.

The Ebay seller probably bought duff machines cheap at the local auction house. This is a pretty common way for companies to get rid of rejects/seconds/returns etc. Send it back to him for a refund.

No Joe, its is a large turnover tool supplier and I expect they will ensure that I am sorted out.

Its just surprising that when both ends are non aligned that I cannot trace any other mention of it on the internet.

Large turnover of duff seconds. That's what Ebay is all about.

i wish you luck using one of them id of got the plastic one or the real tyrol flickers done a front and back of a massive house with a tyrolean flicker nice job but messy and my arm was dead after the first 5mins

The secret with tyroleoning is you go in one direction at 45 degrees to the wall the come back in the other direction at 45 degrees to the wall then you finish off at 90 degrees to the wall...Once you have got the rythmn right them no probs..

I used to have a green metal one finished with a hammerite kind of finish.

I used it as an alternative to pebble dash on a large two story extension.

Also mixed up my own mixture of lime, cement and orange building sand! Thats was very good and about a quarter of the cost of the special mix!
