I’m constructing a large patio partially within the root protection area of a TPO tree. (With the council’s approval.) The guidelines for such a patio come under APN 12 relating to a ‘no dig’ construction to protect the roots, geocell sub base and adequate allowance for free drainage between the pavers ie there will be no run-off of surface water.
The patio will not be alongside or abutting the house so will there be a need to provide the usual (1:60) fall ?

Thanks

Roy

If water is going to pass through the joints then you won't need a fall.

I would put a fall on it, even permeable paving gets gummed up a couple of years down the line and you'll regret not doing it when its easy to do at this point.

Are you using permeable block paving?
