I wonder if you can help

The internal fuse of my flat screen tv has blown up . this what is written on one of its end

FT2.5 AL250VP

What does it mean?, does it mean 2.5 Am , 250V,? there are so many variation of them on ebay and hard to decided which to order, any help would be highly appreciated

Yes that is what it means, but there could be fault that has caused it to blow. I hope not, it is worth trying it though.

The P often means it is a slow acting fuse or a pulse immune fuse. This means it will not blow on the in-rush current when the power supply is switched on and the capacitors in the power supply unit are charging up.

The fuse is a safety critical component and fitting the wrong type of fuse (*) can result in parts of the TV overheating and maybe catching fire.

(*) some low cost fuses are badly made and may not blow when they should do. Buy from a reputable source.

But as already mentioned the fuse may have blown due to a fault in the TV power supply circuit and the replacement fuse may blow immediately.
