Fantastic idea.

So I am very excited at the arrival of my greyhound and obviously it will be the best greyhound in the world. Here is the exciting news. I need the best name in the world for him or her. So I have decided to give this over to the forum to decide the perfect name so you can all be excited too. My greyhound will be your greyhound and will be the forums mascot. I will post its picture on here for all to see and bring cheer to the community. Suggestions please.

OMG that never even crossed my mind. Favorite so far...

Call it something that sounds very different from most everyday words, so he knows the instant you say his name, and doesn't get false alarms because his name is too much like a normal word - e.g. if you call him Terry then he'll get excited when you mention the telly. Two syllables is also a good idea, again so it's easy for them to pick out from other vocal sounds. Dogs don't understand English, they just pick up on the sounds of words that mean something to them.

We had two cats, the one with a two-syllable name learnt her name and responded to it, the other with a one-syllable name didn't ever.

Personally I like dog names that aren't dog names. E.g. Stanley, Mavis or Elvis.
