The problem with taking a gamble on no insurance is that if your dog requires an operation or even just mri scans, that will quickly cost more than the cost of insurance alone. Although expensive it does give peace of mind that you are covered for big emergencies without having to pay up yourself. Our previous 3 dogs cost us £80 for all 3 per month, we used the insurance once to cover a £3000 operation. Its a difficult one to gamble with as the greyhound may never need it but judging by how accident prone they tend to be, I am thinking insurance is probably the sensible route.
