Hi Folks.

I want to use a waterbased interior paint for the wood, but really want to know if anyone can recommend either of the below. These are what my local Homebase stock. I'm leaning toward eggshell but would use the satin if was easier to apply or better finish

Farrow & Ball Waterbased Based Interior Eggshell Paint http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wc...lay?langId=-1&storeId=20001&partNumber=360097

Crown Period Eggshell Waterbased Interior Paint - 750ml http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wc...lay?langId=-1&storeId=20001&partNumber=716273

Dulux Satinwood Waterbased Interior Paint - 600ml http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wc...lay?langId=-1&storeId=20001&partNumber=157706

Farrow & Ball all the way for me, used for the first time just over 2 years ago. Personally never use anything else and also advise clients likewise. Get some samples of each and the Farrow quality will really stand out.

OOI, what's so good about them (apart from the dull colour and flattish finish)?

esp compared to other manufacturers Eggshells which are not so expensive?

The finish no other paint gives it, colours excellent for contemporary or period propertys.

Sample pots are cheap will help you find out what you need to know.

They are probably all good apart from the homebase one.

I've used the Crown eggshell and I haven't found it more difficult to apply than Satin. I certainly prefer the look of eggshell. In terms of colour, though, I don't think you can go wrong with Farrow and Ball.

OK having been to local DIY outlets my choice has been reduced between

Dulux Trade Diamond Quick Drying Eggshell or Dulux Satinwood Waterbased Interior Paint.

I've brought back the Dulux Trade Diamond Quick Drying Eggshell (philosophy being, that it costs more so sould be better ) but having second thoughts as there seems mixed reviews on the Diamond range. I really wanst something less "shiny" will the Diamond be ok ??

save your dosh and buy leyland or johnstone eggshell there as good as it gets, i have painted banks hospitals house's etc theres no better ;) but there is a few just as good:cool:
