I'm have a new roof next month and would like to do the fascias my self, currently there is pvc with is already overcladding some older pvc,

its should have wood as its a 1890's cottage, its not a particularly pretty one, so every period feature does help,

am I right to want wood, access is not good for maintained as two extension hinder this.

I've attached a photo of my house (white fascias) and another local house which is mostly orginal, (red painted wood)

the sofits are also boarded in pvc and planned to uncover back to orginal

what woods best suited? I planned to profile on my table saw, and prime paint before fitting,

would fascias be done before or after new slate roof, and anything else I need to be aware off?
