What natural gas boiler would you fit in your own house, considering reliability and costs?

Many might choose Main as a cheaper reliable boiler.

But I would often go to pay a lot more for a very quiet Intergas.

Although I cannot think of any entirely logical reason why to.

I would look after the existing boiler if old and reliable, yet upgrade controls to maximise on fuel efficiency.

Old boilers were made to last, hardly needed any component replacements etc. Might not have been 95% efficient but did not need parts that were expensive or broke down regularly, not to mention expected life of around 10 years that a condensing boiler could last

Every installer will have their own favoured boiler manufacturer. Boilers they are familiar with installing and repairing, the rest of us will only occasionally have a new boiler installed - so difficult for the average user to judge the good from the bad.

Modern boilers are much more complex than the older ones, much more difficult to repair, expensive to repair in both parts and labour, plus do not last nearly as long as they used to.
