Hi
Sorry, bit of a novice roofing question I'm afraid.
I have deteriorating felt along the eaves where some sections have sagged into the soffit box which isn't good. Reading online the best solution sounds like felt support trays, most instructions talk about just removing/pushing back the first two rows of tiles, slot the support tray under the felt, nail the tray to the fascia then put the tiles back - simple! However, my problem is the tiles are quite small so the trays are almost the width of the first two battens (see below):-
I should remove at least the first batten, cut back the felt, slot the tray underneath and install a new batten?
I've also read that using a 5U eaves protection strip is an alternative, such as:-
It's deeper and supposed to last the life of the roof, would that be a better alternative?
Thanks!
