Hi there thanks for your time.

I'm planning to fit a side gate 3ft x 6ft and small fence bay roughly 4ft x 6ft.

I'm going to use concrete posts and attach timber to one side of the post and to the house to hinge the gate.

The problem is directly beneath where I'm planning to dig the hole for the concrete post is a clay waste pipe. Its around 18 inches deep and I planned to dig 24 inches as I'm fitting a 6ft post.

I don't want to dig to close to the pipe so to be safe will only be able to dig 12 inches will this be okay? The other post in the bay will be 24 inches.

I'm even thinking of maybe digging one big footing connecting the 24 inch hole to the 12 inch is this a better idea?

I can't move the post sadly due to width restrictions down the side.

Any other ideas appreciated.

Cheers

4ft gate and 3ft panel?

I don’t think 12” is enough for a 6ft fence. I’d rather go down the side of the drain 36” deep and concrete the post in below the pipe.
