Hi all
Just wanted some thoughts

Been digging some holes in the garden for some pressure treated fence posts to go in (concreted) 4" x 4"

Two of the holes are quite deep and seem to have hit a water layer (clay etc)

Any thoughts on how to deal with this - would wrapping the post in like a plastic bag help - or is that just a ridiculous idea

Kinda gutted as one of the fence posts we did a few years back seems to have gone quite soft at the base so anything we can do to limit the rot will help

Thanks all

Concrete a concrete repair spur into th hole and bolt your post to that. Base of the wooden post can then be above ground so rot issues much reduced.

Thanks both

kinda like flash band (I think thats what its called for roofing repairs

Was thinking of bitumen paint but the flash band may do it - or help at least
