Are fence spikes any good at deterring burglars or waste of time?

problem is someone will say they were looking for their lost pet dog and ripped their fingers to shreds on your fence, and then sue your @ss off!!

Get some security lighting? CCTV? proper secure doors and windows, start a neighbourhood watch... all the usual stuff...and make sure your home insurance is up to spec.. i.e. covers all your stuff.
Also take photo's of individual items, keep a list with values etc... also get an external hard drive and back up pc's and laptops (photos, music etc) and keep it off site e.g. at work, at parent's/friends house...

If you have loads of valuables, think of obscures places to hide them.. e,g, hinge the bottom step of your stairs, glue some book spines to a piece of mdf, and create a 'vault' on a bookshelf....

i could go on, but i won't..

The the spikes are rubber, their legal as wont harm but cause discomfort. Thing is it may look like you have something, but I'm sure theyd rather burgle a property with no alarm/cctv/lighting as its much less hassle and less risk of getting caught?
