Ferguson tv

I have a ferguson tv M55171RH
and when you first switch it on the 'on light' glows red but when you try to select a channel by remote or tv buttons it just glows red and then goes off....until next time you press remote when it glows red for the duration of the press..
any ideas please

Providing you have checked the manual for child lock or anti theft lock function then unfortunatly it sounds like you have a fairly serious component(s) break down as all modern tv recievers power supplies completely shut down if a fault ie short circuit is sensed in the equipment
