Ferroili boiler stuck in Outside Temperature Control Mode

Hi,

I live in a rented house & been having problems with our boiler for ages which most the time you run a hot tap trips the boiler and means you need to reset it.

However if you ever do this when the boiler hasn't tripped instead of resetting it then it changes to OTC (outside temperature control) mode and ignores the thermostat making the house very chilly indeed!

Pressing the reset/otc button to try and switch it off again though doesn't work so once it's on, it's on! Also removing from power also doesn't work as when you start it up again it's still in OTC mode.

Is there anyway to get it back to normal again? Its happened 2 times before and after a week or so manage to fix it but can't remember what I did!

you live in Rented accomodation - CONTACT YOUR LANDLORD
it is his problem do you have a current Safety Certificate for the gas installation?
if not ask for one at the same time!!

It would be worth your while to get to understand the OTC mode. It could and should give you proper control, and save on your gas bill.

Do you not need a sensor for it to work? Something we don't have... We only have central heating upstairs which says all you need to know about the expense the landlord spared!
