Hello all,

2004 290 HPi Iveco calipers are meant to be 'floating' ie pistons on one side of the disc only.
Mine don't float and I can't work out what's wrong. Do they slide on bushes over the securing bolts?
Help!

Cheers,

Thats the traditional way for discs these days, with the exception of Land Rover, Porsche etc.
Usually the caliper is bolted to its bracket with a bolt top and bottom. With these out the caliper can be lifted clear. The pins that these bolts screw in to are supposed to slide in their guides. If the guides have rubber boots covering them, and they are split then seizure is very likely.
On some designs, the caliper bolt is much longer and is parallel sided. Thses slide within a nylon bush and rarely give too much trouble.
A picture of yours would help, if none of this info suits yours!

John,
Many thanks for that. There are indeed rubber boots / gaiters but they ain't done their job!
The two bolts holding both parts of the caliper together are out ok but the (metal) bushes are not for moving or coming out. If I could get 'em out I would be a happy chappy.
