Fibre washers

Do i smear any "multi purpose jointing compound" on the fibre washers on the c/h flo & return pipes please or do i fit them dry?

What are these f&r pipes of which you speak?

I will occasionally suck them, or dip them in water, but nothing more.

Because i'm refiting the water pipes.
