Hi,

I've wall mounted a monitor and now need to tidy up - what would you recommend for doing so?

I'm going to put a blank plate over the square on the left so it's just the cable run and huge gaping hole above the monitor!

The wall is plasterboard stuck to breeze blocks.

I was thinking of expanding foam and poly filla???

Ta!

Won't the browning show hairline crack against the plasterboard? Wouldn't be better put in a square plasterboard and tape the joint then skim it over?

Is there is a cable in the slot and is that a coneection block in the small hole?

Check on the electrics forum - there are rules you need to comply with - joints may need crimping and sealing. Not sure whether this counts as a "protected zone"

There's no electrics - just a standard vga monitor cable, usb lead and power lead.

Surely the power lead has electricity running through it? :?

hmm - yeah - think it probably does ;)

but there's no joins or anything - it's the original power cable just shoved through a delicately created hole in the wall (ok, maybe not that delicately!)

Ignoring the issues of plastering a power cable, have you considered ventilation for the monitor? It looks like a CRT so will pump out a fair bit of heat. If you have left insufficient space around the vents in the rear, it will overheat and may potentially be unsafe. At very least you will significantly reduce it's working life.

OK the electrics, how is this connected to power? Is it via a plug in another room, or permanently connected?

Hi,

I'm planning to leave about an inch around the monitor (which you can't see) for ventilation - plus the monitor is linked to a media centre so is not likely to be on for any length of time.

The mains lead simply runs through the wall into a normal plug socket. It won't be completly lost as I've but blanking plates on either side of the big holes.

It's a CRT no ? Then forgive me, does the back end stick out the other side ??? if so, why didn't you get an LCD monitor ??

It's a touch screen LCD and is mounted on a VESA mount from B&Q direct onto the brick - looks ace ;)
